in the last post i briefly mentioned that we went to kleinskool, and yes we did! It is surrounded by poverty, old rubbish packets and cows. My heart was stirred as this exact setting is my theme for my concept this year.
okay wait abit, this is a lot of information to put across very simply and effectively. I'll explain it in reference to the picture inserted below. As in the picture there is much chaos and structure as well. There is most definately a contrast in the houses and buildings, just as there are contrasts in many people's lifestyles today. To expand abit, if u live in South Africa and drive past Plettenberg Bay on the one side you will notice the many squatter shacks and on the other the rich people's beach houses.

we live in this kind of contrast, but there is something so beautiful about it isn't there? My concept this year will deal with the contrast's between order and chaos (symbolized in the colours black and white) as well as the beauty of the two contrasts.
But to take it further even in one world, such as a South African township or informal settlement there are many contrasts too. Although there may be rubbish flying around, inside the hut there is much tradition and order. There is beauty in this contrast too. have you ever seen someone in a township walking around, dressed impeccably? I have! and this is where the title of my range comes from, "SWAGGER". to 'swagger' is to strut your stuff and township people really know how to!
To take it on a more personal level, in my life there have been many contrasts. The contrast of going thru depression,to living free of it, the contrast's between girl and boy (i'm a twin), to having and living at times with my separated parents-who by the way live/d very contrasting lives.
more to come, but this is enough for one day!
so very excited to share more tommorrow perhaps?
