This kinda reminds me of couples who tease eachother by saying that the other partner will have to sleep on the couch or outside. However I must say that arguing (in a controlled and loving way) in my opinion is way better than letting things slide, building up emotions such as resentment, bitterness and anger.
Ive heard that a few years into marriage couples become too comfortable with one another and become immune to eachothers feelings and the excitement and passionate thing marriage can be. This is why i would say rather to express and feel an emotion than not feel at all.
Florence Welsch sums it up in her song "kiss with the fist is better than this". Okay so i'm just dramatizing it to get a point across.
