The truth in a nutshell...
My mom always told me that there are few people in your life that love you and support you. I always dismissed the thought and was like "yeah mom, whatever". But I can honestly say that there are a few people who will actually take interest in my life. The truth is harsh and cuts to the heart but what my mom said was coming from a place of love. There are only a few people in this world who are looking out for your best interests. Not theirs, but yours!
My goal from now on and forever more is to surround myself with people that I love and love me! I want to do everything out of love and make decisions with a clear purpose in mind.
Don't get me wrong, I'm totally for helping people out when I feel it on my heart but I don't just want to help people out for the sake of it or doing a good deed. I believe that God has so much for us and the minute that we let go of all the garbage, we can grab hold of something more beautiful. Sometimes it only comes after you've let go!
One of my friends put it well. She said that when we stay true to ourselves and are fully ourselves, then the right people will be drawn to you but when you compromise your standards then you are not necessarily drawing in the right people.
For example one thing that I feel like I have been compromising my gentleness for a more abrupt personality in fear of not being heard. I desire to surround myself by people who draw out the best in me without me having to shout my stories. I desire people to long to hear my stories. I long for people to be on their toes to hear what is going to come out my mouth next.
Cayly puts it well " don't settle for just being tolerated, be celebrated". Lets toast to many years of celebrating!
