can fashion speak?

Ox blood red is a very fashionable colour for 2013.  At the moment I am wearing it on my nails and my skirt is a deep red.  I love it! It reminds me of ... well blood.  When I think of blood I think of the messy story of sin, Jesus (the lamb whose blood was shed) and redemption.  Fascinating how fashion can speak volumes without even saying a word.

It also reminds me of Kristene Mullers song ,

"the darker the night, the brighter the day...
the deeper the sin, the stronger the blood
...
redemption is so much better than perfection"

Those who have really known sin and darkness have a greater opportunity to know God deeper.  To let Him into those deep, dark and hurt places (whether it be bad relationships, addictions that are sucking the life out of  you or whatever it may be) to let Him to fill and make you overflow with light, healthy relationships, peace and joy etc.

Whilst making bunting last night I used white and red ribbons  I was alarmed at how white the white looked next to the red and how red the red looked against the white.  God's holiness and purity (white) shows up our deep red sin.  Our sinful ways contrast so much to God's holiness.  As impossible as it sounds God can take our red red sin and make it white white white as snow.
Nothing is impossible for God/// He can make our sin as white as snow.

But back to talking to fashion, clothing much like colours can speak volumes without saying a word.  After years of working next to other designers I saw just how the clothing that they made spoke of secrets of themselves, without actual words.  Year after year the projects would change yet there were consistent visual clues in their work which spoke of their personality.

Do you think fashion can speak? what does it say about you?

Love,
Sarah***
