Performance based love says you are only loved when you do something right\efficiently. Unconditional love is like a child learning to ride a bicycle lifts up his little hands from the handle bar and puts them in the air while shouting to dad, "look daddy, I'm riding without using my hands". Sometimes love comes best when we allow ourselves to surrender. It comes when we allow ourselves the opportunity to risk, when we allow ourselves the opportunity to fail. And love comes in (when we allow it) even if we fall off our bicycle or even if we manage to carry on riding free of bruises. That is the loving father heart for us all.
Aren't we all kids learning new skills? Feeling naïve and facing the unknown? Maybe learning to love, learning to operate in a new job, a new mom or learning to navigate life without someone in your life? Whatever the risk may be that you are facing I hope you realize that you are loved unconditionally.
While writing this those dreaded words "cliché" popped up in my mind, well I just keep on writing. I hope you do the same.
