Is the fast lane the slow lane?

Hello ladies and gentlemen, ( gorgeous creatures )

If everyone is driving in the fast lane then surely it is faster to go in the slow lane? The other day I was driving into East London and the right lane (which is supposedly the fast lane) was jam packed and the left hand lane was free and this sparked a bunch of thoughts about fast/slow living. In this case the slow lane would've really been faster. I've heard from those who live in Joburg that it is a very fast paced lifestyle in comparison to working in the Eastern Cape. But I wonder if it is more fulfilling living in Joburg?

Being on the road a lot lately has given me time to think about whether going 'faster' in life is better? Let me give you some examples: Is working harder with less rest really working more efficiently or Is our work not more insightful and efficient when we have had sufficient sleep, food or even some sunlight and a chat? Is our life more efficient when we are consuming everything in the stores or is it easier to keep it simple and stick to the good old ways? Is keeping up with the latest electronics making your life easier or does it consume more of your time researching about them than that you were going to save when using the device? Sometimes driving in the slower lane will get us to where we want faster.

Today is my gran's 87th birthday so I will brag about her a bit right now. As a family we have spent time thinking why is it that she has stayed so fit, positive and healthy all these years. We came up with a few of the reasons we believe.

1. She is great at setting aside 20 minutes EVERYDAY ,without fail, to power nap. Power naps have huge benefits such as reduces stress, increased alertness and productivity, improved learning and memory, good for the heart, boosts creativity, increases cognitive functioning, helps with cell repair and I could go on forever! After my gran has had her power nap she is ready to go, go, go!

2. She is good at relaxing. After a day filled with being creative (fabric painting, making cards, cooking, flower arranging, painting etc) , drinking tea, socialising and organising events she is ready for an evening to relax by bathing, eating, chatting around the fire and watching some TV. "All work and no play made Jack a dull boy". My gran is everything but dull because she knows how to play and how to rest! At her age she is fulfilled, blessed and on a high! When I grow up I would like to live a life as full and creative as hers!

Driving in the slow lane sometimes gets you where you want to be faster! Doing something with passion and energy can get a job done beautifully! Save your energy for what is most important! Use your time wisely! Simplify your life so that you can tackle your daily life with umph and energy! Lets take off the mentality that we are so busy and tackle what is right in front of us with both hands.

Have a stunning peaceful and productive day!

Love,
Sarah **
