Be enlightened...

The hair dryer is buzzing then cut, stop, "cluck". My hair dryer cuts off... This is Africa. Earth hour seems to be forced on us! Yes! the power was cut out! Didn't Eskom know that I wasn't finished drying my hair?. I really think they must plan it better with my beauty regime.

By the electricity being off we realise just how much we rely on electricity. A few minutes after the electricity going off I walk to the bathroom and "switch" on the light. Although that didn't work. I walk to the sewing machine and think, "mhn a cup of coffee would be great!". Ah nope, thats not going to work. Sometimes we only realise how much we rely on something when it is gone. The same principle applies with people, sometimes we only realise what we had when it is gone.

Unfortunately loss is a part of life. Mind you, I don't know it is unfortunate. Sometimes we are fortunate to rid ourselves of somethings/people. Anyway back to the point, loss in inevitable. We grow up and lose our teeth, we get a promotion at work we lose that extra time/freedom, we lose our job we lose that responsibilty or we graduate and lose the free living of student life, . We relied on parents when we are young but as we grow older we lose the privelages of being a full time child. We rely on things without even realising. We are faith filled creatures. We have faith and rely on the light switch to work when we switch it on.

Tommorrow I am graduating and I have been reflecting on my current 'non student' state. I've realised how much I miss having Curtis coming over for coffee in the morning or coming home late from dancing or washing the dishes when I please, I miss late night chats with my house mate, I miss going for walks with other students who have a wealth of time. There are many things that I miss. It is good to miss because it shows that you embraced that season with open arms. This is a very normal part of life, moving on and letting go! Learning to have faith for new things!

What this then lead me to think is how important it is to embrace whatever season you are in. Chances are you will look back lovingly on those times too! You never when you are making a moment. You never know what you will one day miss! However going back to the point of faith, faith is essential to daily life. So keep moving on with faith. Keep believing! Keep having faith that the light will turn on! It might come on in more way than one and when it does, enjoy! Embrace your life with peace and contentment!

Love,
